A stretch of State Highway 2 at Mohaka, south of Wairoa, is currently closed as fire crews battle a vegetation fire.

The road is closed between the intersections with Mohaka Township Road and Te Kumi Road.

There is no viable detour and people are asked to avoid the area and delay their travel.
