NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 2 Oct 2025 9:10am | Bay of Plenty

Work is set to start on State Highway 2 (SH2), near Rogers Road in Pukehina on Monday 8 October in preparation for a road rebuild.

The initial phase includes vegetation clearing and removing topsoil and grass from the road shoulders.

The rebuild worksite is approximately 1.3km long, starting west of Rogers Road. The process involves digging out the existing road layers and replacing them layer by layer, followed by surfacing, sweeping and line marking.

Work will take place Monday to Friday, during the day from 6am to 6pm, and is expected to take around 10 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Stop/go traffic management will be in place for the duration of the work.  Drivers are advised to plan for possible delays while the work is ongoing.

NZTA thanks road users in advance for their patience.
