SH2 Woodland Road (North of Katikati) – road rebuild

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 15 Sept 2026 8:43am | Bay of Plenty

From Wednesday 16 September, road rebuild work will start near SH2 Woodland Road, north of Katikati, and is expected to take about 9 weeks to complete.

Crews will begin with drainage works in the first week, before moving into the main road rebuild. A road rebuild involves removing the existing road surface and rebuilding it layer by layer, helping renew the road and extend its life.

Most work will take place during the day, between 6:30am and 6:00pm, Monday to Saturday. Some night work may also be needed. Lane closures and a reduced speed limit will be in place, and people travelling through the area should allow for delays of up to 10 minutes.

A temporary speed limit of 30km/h will be in place while this work is underway, including outside work hours.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience while we complete this important work.

For everyone’s safety, please follow the temporary traffic management and onsite signs.
