This weekend’s planned closure of a stretch of State Highway 3 Mountain Road in Taranaki has been postponed.

A stretch of SH3 between Johns Road and Surrey Road was to close overnight this Saturday and Sunday for asphalt patch repair work.

The work needs to be done while it’s dry.

But the work has now been postponed, given forecast rain on the way, in addition to the current restrictions further north through Awakino Gorge.

As a result, this section of SH3 will be open as per usual this weekend.

The work will take place at a later date – those details are being finalised.
