As announced yesterday, from next Monday (29 June) the Mangaorongo Bridge on State Highway 3 (SH3) approximately 7km north of Ōtorohanga will be reduced to one lane with stop/go traffic management in place.

The bridge abutments are being repaired while the nearby riverbanks are undergoing erosion control following the February storm event to hit the area. 

Work is expected to take up to 4 weeks, and traffic over the bridge will remain at one lane until the work is complete. 

Once this work is finished, the Mangaorongo Bridge will be better placed to withstand future floods.
