From Monday (10 August) the Mangaorongo Bridge on State Highway 3 (SH3) approximately 7km north of Ōtorohanga, will be reduced to one lane with stop/go traffic management in place.

During the erosion control and abutment repair work which took place in June, damage was noticed to one of the bridge piers, which needs to be fixed. 

Work is expected to take up to 2 weeks, and traffic over the bridge will remain at one lane until the work is complete. Reducing traffic to one lane allows crews and equipment easier access underneath the bridge and also reduces the load on the structure while work is being done on the pier.
