Update with location – the closure point is in Matawai near the Fulton Hogan quarry

A stretch of State Highway 35 at Wharekahika/Hicks Bay will be closing again overnight.

The road will close near the intersection with Wharf Road, from 6pm today (Tuesday).

At this stage, we expect the road to reopen at 7am tomorrow following an onsite assessment.

We will also be installing concrete safety barriers tomorrow, which are designed to catch any more slips.

Once open, please expect delays of up to 30 minutes and plan your journey accordingly.

Please also expect the possibility of further short-notice notice closures tomorrow if there is more movement.
