SH35 between Hicks Bay and Potaka reopens

A stretch of State Highway 35 between Potaka and Hicks Bay has now reopened (from 7.30am Sunday).

That section of road was closed overnight due to surface flooding and the chance of more rain overnight.

The surface flooding has now subsided.

Crews are continuing to monitor the network. Please continue to drive to the conditions and be alert to the possibility of surface flooding, slips and debris

SH35 between Hicks Bay and Potaka closes overnight Saturday

A stretch of State Highway 35 between Hicks Bay and Potaka is closing from 6.30pm Saturday and will remain closed overnight.

There is surface flooding in the area and a possibility of heavy rainfall in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Crews will reassess the highway tomorrow morning (Sunday) before any decision on reopening is made.

Crews spent Saturday morning cleaning debris from this stretch of road following last night’s closure.

It’s important people driving in the area are alert to the possibility of surface flooding, slips and debris, drive to the conditions and with caution.
