SH5 now open following earlier truck crash

Both lanes of State Highway 5 Napier-Taupō Road are now OPEN following a truck crash earlier this afternoon.
A 50 km/h temporary speed limit will remain in place overnight through the site of the crash near Te Pōhue.
Please drive to the conditions, expect delays as congestion eases and take care travelling through the site.
Update 10pm
The southbound lane of State Highway 5 Napier-Taupō Road has now reopened following a truck crash earlier this afternoon.
A truck rolled, blocking both lanes.
A tow truck has been on site this evening and the southbound lane, heading towards Napier has now reopened.
The northbound lane remains closed for now.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is still advising people to delay their travel or expect significant delays. Please drive to the conditions.
Update 8.45pm
Tow trucks are now at the site of a truck crash on State Highway 5 Napier-Taupō Road, near Te Pōhue.
SH5 closed earlier this afternoon between the turnoff with SH2 just north of Napier and Caroline Drive at the Taupō end of SH5.
There is no viable detour and NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is advising people to delay their travel.
A further update will be provided as soon as the road reopens.

A truck has rolled, blocking both lanes.
There is no viable detour.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is warning of significant delays and is advising all road users to delay their journeys where possible.

A truck has rolled, blocking both lanes and emergency services are en route to the site.
There is no viable detour.
