State Highway 6/Lumsden-Dipton Highway in Southland has reopened after a serious crash earlier today.

While the section of road between the intersections with Josephville-St Patricks Road and Caroline Valley Road is now clear, people are asked to take care travelling this route.

3pm – Detour available for SH6 Southland closure

A detour is available after a serious crash closed State Highway 6/Lumsden-Dipton Highway in Southland earlier today.

SH6/ Lumsden-Dipton Highway is closed at Josephville, between the intersections with Josephville-St Patricks Road and Caroline Valley Road. Emergency services are at the crash scene. 

To avoid the closure, northbound traffic can turn left onto Dipton-Castlerock Road, then right onto State Highway 94/Mossburn-Lumsden Highway, before turning left to rejoin SH6. The reverse applies for southbound traffic.
