4.05pm – SH73 reopened to a single lane

A section of State Highway 73 near Arthur’s Pass that was closed by a crash is now reopened to a single lane.

Road users will be required to stop on demand at the crash site, east of the Cora Lynn Road intersection, and a 30km/h temporary speed restriction will be in place. People are asked to drive with caution through this area.


3.40pm – Closures points in place for SH73 crash

The location of closure points has been confirmed either side of a serious crash on State Highway 73. The closure extends from Cora Lynn Road to the west, and Lake Pearson to the east.

Arthur’s Pass Village can still be reached from the western side.

People are encouraged to avoid the area or delay their travel while emergency services are working at the crash site.

An alternative route is available between Christchurch and the West Coast, via State Highway 7.


2.45pm – Serious crash closes SH73

A serious crash has resulted in the closure of State Highway 73 near Arthur’s Pass.

Emergency services are attending the crash, east of the Cora Lynn Road intersection. People should avoid the area or delay their travel if possible.;
