Short delays expected for SH1 repair work

Road users are encouraged to plan ahead for delays expected next week as repair work is undertaken on State Highway 1/Main South Road between Rolleston and Burnham.

The work to repair the temporary road shoulder near the new Dunns Crossing Road roundabout is scheduled to take place between 11am and 1pm on Tuesday 5 May. This is connected to the wider SH1 Rolleston Access Improvements project in the area.

For at least part of this two-hour work period, traffic will be reduced to one lane and under the control of temporary traffic lights. Road users will be required to stop on demand, and delays of up to 10 minutes can be expected. People are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and allow more time for travel.

Lane closures like this during the day are avoided where possible, but warmer temperatures are required to apply chipseal properly. Addressing this deteriorating section of road surface now means less impact from wet weather and reduced risk of potholes forming.

If unexpected poor weather does intervene on Tuesday, the work may be rescheduled and notification of this will be provided. We thank people for their patience while this work is carried out.
