Silverdale Bus Priority Lane project – road closures required
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 17 Sept 2026 4:09pm | Auckland
There are night-time works for the Silverdale Bus Priority Lane project coming up, which mean road users should allow extra time for journeys due to closures and detours.
On Sunday 20 September and Monday 21 September, between 9pm and 5am, there will be a full northbound closure of State Highway 1 (SH1) from Oteha Valley Road to Silverdale.
Northbound traffic will detour via Dairy Flat Highway between Albany and Silverdale, which adds about 8 minutes of travel time.
The northbound SH1 off-ramp at Silverdale will also be closed from Sunday 20 September to Thursday 24 September, and again from Sunday 27 September to Thursday 1 October, between 9pm and 5am.
Traffic exiting SH1 at Silverdale will detour via the Millwater off-ramp, then take Wainui Road, Highgate Parkway, Colin Chester Drive, Wainui Road, Silverdale Street, Millwater Parkway to Silverdale. This detour will add about 15 minutes to journey times.
The roundabout at the Dairy Flat Highway and Hibiscus Coast Highway intersection will remain open to access SH1 northbound and southbound from Silverdale.
These closures support work being done for the Silverdale Bus Priority Lane project including the installation of lights, camera poles, underground utility works, and excavations.
To make the most of these closures, other projects in the area will also be completing works and maintenance at this time.
NZTA thanks road users for their patience.
