Planned resurfacing work on the Upper Orari Bridge, on State Highway 79 in South Canterbury, means a partial day closure scheduled for next week.

The bridge is due to be closed to traffic on Thursday 16 April between 9am and 3pm. Road users should follow signposted detours – southbound traffic via SH1 Rangitata, Orari and State Highway 79 Geraldine, and the reverse applies for northbound traffic.

People are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time for travel. If weather or other reasons require a change to the schedule, notification will be provided. We thank people in advance for their patience.
