Winter maintenance is planned for the southbound Kenepuru Link Road onramp next week with streetlight repairs planned for Monday night (20 July).

With good visibility essential on motorway on and offramps, ensuring streetlights are working is critically important.

Road crews will do the repairs as nightworks between 9 pm and 4:30 am. This is when traffic volumes are at their lowest, and the repairs will affect fewer drivers.

Because space on the onramp is limited and heavy machinery and lifting equipment will be used, the onramp must be closed to all traffic for safety reasons.

Traffic needing to access State Highway 1 should instead travel to Tawa and access State Highway 1 via the Mungavin onramp (see map below). This is a longer journey and will require extra travel time.

This work is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled to Tuesday night (21 July) if there is bad weather or high winds. Drivers are encouraged to check road and weather conditions before they travel.

Works schedule and detour route:

• Monday 20 July, 9pm – 4:30am (contingency – Tuesday 21 July)
• Kenepuru Link Road southbound onramp CLOSED
• Alternative access to SH1 via Tawa/Porirua and Mungavin onramp.
