Transmission Gully closures

A revised schedule is available for this week’s closure schedules for State Highway 1 Transmission Gully.

The motorway will be CLOSED in both directions at night between Paekākāriki and the State Highway 58 interchange, from tonight until  Wednesday, 11 February (see schedule and detour below).

On Thursday, 12 February, the road will be closed to southbound traffic only (see detours and schedule below). Updates will be provided if this changes.

Daytime lane closures and temporary speed limits also remain in place. These will cause traffic delays, especially during peak commuting periods.

Drivers are urged to stay up to date on the works, plan their journeys accordingly, and to use State Highway 59 as an alternative route where possible.

The Waitangirua southbound offramp remains closed until Thursday, 12 February, as previously communicated.

Works are weather-dependent, and schedules may change if wet weather occurs.

• Monday, 9 February, Tuesday, 10 February, and Wednesday, 11 February
  • Southbound closure - between Paekākāriki and the SH58 interchange. 9 pm - 4:30 am
  • Northbound closure – between the SH58 interchange and Paekākāriki. 9 pm – 7 am

• Thursday, 12 February. 9 pm – 4:30 am
  • Southbound closure - between Paekākāriki and the SH58 interchange
  • Traffic should detour via SH59
