Road users should allow extra time for their journeys due to overnight ramp closures coming up on State Highway 16 (SH16) on Newton Road.

Between Thursday 5 and Thursday 26 November, from 9pm to 5am (excluding Friday and Saturday nights) the following ramps will be closed:

Newton Road westbound on-ramp closed 5, 8, 15, 22 and 23 November.

Works on 5 November will be combined with a planned maintenance closure.

Newton Road eastbound off-ramp closed 11, 12, 16–19, 22–26 November

Works on 12 November will be combined with a planned maintenance closure.

Works are weather dependent and may change. Contingency shifts are scheduled for 29 and 30 November if required.

Suggested detours are:

• Newton Road westbound on-ramp: follow the recommended detour via Great North Road and St Lukes Road to the SH16 St Lukes westbound on-ramp.
• Newton Road eastbound off-ramp: use alternative off-ramps at St Lukes Road or Nelson Street.

These works support the next stage of design for the Western Express (WX1) Enhancements Programme, part of the broader Northwest Busway – Te Ara Hauāuru project.
