The crash site has been cleared, and State Highway 2 has reopened for northbound traffic at Totara Park Upper Hutt. Access to Totara Park Road has also been restored

Traffic heading north on State Highway 2 through Upper Hutt must be ready for delays and a local road detour this afternoon.

The highway is closed to northbound traffic at the Gibbons Street intersection following a multi-vehicle crash earlier this afternoon. There is no access to Totara Park Road from the highway.

The incident was reported around 12:45 this afternoon. Emergency services and contractors are at the scene.

State Highway 2 is closed to northbound traffic from the Gibbons Street intersection while the crash is investigated and the incident scene cleared. The highway remains OPEN for southbound traffic.

Northbound traffic should detour via Gibbons St, Main Street, Fergusson Drive, to the SH2/Fergusson Drive/Mangaroa Hill Road intersection.

Drivers should take care when travelling through the area and expect delays.
