Due to a serious crash at Tanners Point this morning, State Highway 2 (SH2) is closed between Athenree Road and Tuapiro Road.

NZ Police advise it is likely to remain closed for some time while emergency services work at the scene.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible and expect delays.

Detours are as follows:

Northbound, travel southbound on SH2, then turn right on to Moffat Rd, then continue straight on to Cambridge Rd, then turn right on to SH29, then continue straight on to SH24, then turn right on to SH27, then turn right on to SH26, then turn right to continue on SH26, then turn right onto SH2. Southbound follow in reverse. This detour is not suitable for HPMVs.
