A serious crash between the intersection of State Highway 25 and Moewai Road in Whitiangā (near the airfield) means SH25 is likely to remain closed for a number of hours today for a serious crash investigation.

Road users will not be able to access the Whitiangā township from the eastern side of the Coromandel Peninsula (Tairua side) as State Highway 25A is also closed for maintenance work.

People needing to travel to Whitiangā must take the significantly longer route via Coromandel township until NZ Police re-open the road.
