State Highway 29 (SH29) is closed over the Kaimai Range until further notice, between State Highway 28 (SH28) Te Poi and State Highway 36 (SH36) Tauriko, due to a slip near the lookout.
A detour is in place, but it will add an extra 90 minutes travel time.
Eastbound traffic: turn right onto SH28, left onto State Highway 5 (SH5), left onto SH36 and continue to return to SH29. Westbound traffic, reverse directions apply.
The weather is causing difficult driving conditions around the region.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) advises that if you need to travel, take extra care as there may be water, debris or other hazards on the road ahead.
Check the NZTA Journey Planner before you travel.
