State Highway 30A Amohau Street overnight closures shift to westbound lanes

Contractors working on the major road rebuild of SH30A Amohau Street in Rotorua will this week finish repairs to the eastbound lanes and move across to working on the westbound lanes.
From this Thursday (19 February) the westbound lanes between Te Ngae Street intersection and just before the right turn bay into Pak’nSave will be closed overnight from 8pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday (open Friday and Saturday nights), allowing crews to work safely while minimising delays to people’s daily travel.
Crews will be setting up and packing down an hour either side of these closure times. Vehicles will still be able to travel through, however there may be delays.
During the day, the road will remain open with a temporary speed limit. Drivers should expect an uneven surface with ramps at each end of the worksite.
The road has been patched for years and now needs a full asphalt rebuild to prevent failures next winter.
The road sits in an active geothermal zone, which makes the job more complex.
Thank you for your patience while we get this done. Please allow extra time and plan ahead.
