Pavement work and night-time stop/go traffic management is to continue for the State Highway 58 Safety Improvement project through October.

Work will be happening between the Moonshine Road roundabout and the Flightys/Murphys roads roundabout from Sunday 4 October to Monday 8 October, between 7pm and 5:30am.

These pavement works are required for building up sections of the road to the correct height and shape before the final pavement layer is laid near the end of the project. 

While this work is happening overnight to reduce disruption, there is activities happening site wide during the day as well.

Drivers should allow extra time for their journeys, follow all temporary traffic management, observe all temporary speed limits in place, and take care around road crews and equipment.

This work is part of NZTA’s ongoing programme of safety improvements for SH58.

Resurfacing works and nighttime stop/go traffic management is to continue for the State Highway 58 Safety Improvement project until mid-October.

Recent bad weather has delayed planned resurfacing works. Dry weather and good conditions are required for road resurfacing to be effective and durable.

Ongoing works are weather-dependent, and schedules may change at short notice. Drivers are encouraged to check road conditions before they travel.

Updated work schedule:

Monday, 28 September to Wednesday, 14 October. Monday to Thursday nights, 7 pm and 5:30 am:

• SH58 Moonshine Road roundabout approaches
• Stop/go traffic management in place
• Expect delays during work hours

Drivers travelling on State Highway 58 should plan ahead for four nights of resurfacing works next week.

As part of ongoing work on the State Highway 58 safety improvements project, contractors will build up sections of the road surface in preparation for laying the final pavement layer.

The work will be done over Monday to Thursday nights, between 7 pm and 5:30 am.

Stop/go traffic management will be in place while crews carry out resurfacing work at the new Moonshine Road roundabout.

In addition, there will also be ongoing works happening near Flightys/Murphys roads, as well as on the adjacent highway during the day. These works will affect traffic flows.

Drivers should allow extra time for their journeys, follow all temporary traffic management, observe all temporary speed limits in place, and take care around road crews and equipment.

The work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if wet weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur. Drivers should check the latest road conditions before travelling.
