A stretch of State Highway 35 between Punaruku slip and Waikura Road remains closed for now.

The road was initially closed on Friday evening and the closure was extended for much of the weekend after heavy rainfall at the Punaruku slip exceeded pre‑determined safety thresholds.

The closure remains in place following this morning’s safety assessment and a further decision will be made this afternoon.
