A stretch of State Highway 35 at Wharekahika/Hicks Bay will be closing overnight.

The road was closed last night following a slip near Wharf Road. The road reopened this afternoon but will close overnight from 6pm.

At this stage, we expect the road to reopen at 7am tomorrow following an onsite assessment.

Once open, please expect delays of up to 30 minutes and plan your journey accordingly.

Please also expect the possibility of further short-notice notice closures tomorrow if there is more movement.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi will provide a further update tomorrow morning when the slip is cleared and the road opened.
