Top of the South Drivers, be ready for more wet weather on the roads

More bad weather is on the way for roads and highways at the top of the South Island.
The Metservice has issued a Heavy Rain Warning for the Tasman Ranges west of Motueka for tomorrow (Wednesday, 28 May), with up to 100 millimetres of rain forecast.
This will affect State Highway 60 in Tākaka and Golden Bay.
A Heavy Rain Watch will also be in place tomorrow afternoon for the Richmond and Bryant Ranges and the Rai Valley. Periods of heavy rain may affect State Highway 6 Hira to Havelock, and State Highway 63 Wairau Valley/St Arnaud.
Road users must be prepared for wet weather driving conditions and adjust their driving accordingly.
Reduce your speed, watch your following distances, avoid sudden braking and use headlights if visibility is poor.
Wet weather increases the risks of slips, rockfalls, and localised flooding, and, as already seen in the region this week, can see roads closed at short notice. Drivers are encouraged to check road and weather conditions before they travel.
