State Highway 79/Geraldine-Fairlie Highway in South Canterbury is closed after a crash involving powerlines this afternoon. Emergency services are attending the crash near the intersection with Kennedy Street, just south of Geraldine. Road users are urged to delay their travel in the area or to use an alternative route. If coming across the crash site, people should follow the traffic directions provided onsite.
