Update: Crash affecting traffic – State Highway 2 Māoribank, Upper Hutt (SH2 now OPEN)

State Highway 2 has reopened to southbound traffic at Māoribank following a crash earlier this evening.

The highway was closed to southbound traffic for approximately one hour and 20 minutes while the incident was being resolved.


8:35 pm

State Highway 2 is closed to southbound traffic in Upper Hutt tonight as emergency services attend a two-vehicle crash at Māoribank.

The crash was reported shortly after 8 pm.

The highway is closed to southbound drivers at the intersection with Fergusson Drive. It remains open to northbound traffic.

Drivers are asked to follow the instructions of emergency services. Southbound traffic should detour via Fergusson Drive.

Delays are expected until the incident is resolved.
