UPDATE: Crash closes State Highway 2 at Melling to northbound traffic (SH2 now OPEN)

UPDATE 7pm:

State Highway 2 in Lower Hutt has reopened to northbound traffic following a crash earlier this evening.

Drivers can expect ongoing delays until queued traffic clears and are asked to take care when travelling through the area.


6:35 pm:

Drivers heading north on State Highway 2 through the Hutt Valley are asked to delay their travel and avoid the area.

Emergency services are attending a two-vehicle crash near the Tirohanga Road intersection. The incident was reported shortly before 6 pm.

The highway is currently closed to northbound traffic at the Melling intersection and the Tirohanga Rd/Block Rd intersection. It remains open to southbound traffic.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use an alternative route until this incident is resolved.

Ongoing traffic delays can be expected in the area, and drivers should allow extra time for their journeys.
