Drive with caution – expect delays over SH1 Brynderwyn Hills

Due to slip material, a single lane closure is now in place for SH1 Brynderwyn Hills under stop/go traffic management. 

Drive with caution as the road will be slippery. Expect delays.

Severe weather is affecting Northland state highways, with crews responding to various issues such as fallen trees, damaged street lights on the road, debris, flooding and some minor slips. 

State Highway 15 (SH15) is closed between Cemetery and Loop Roads due to flooding. Detour is via State Highway 1 (SH1).

The Mangamuka Gorge has held up well in the rain and the route re-opened as of 9am.

A small slip has closed the shoulder on SH1 Brynderwyn Hills near the intersection with State Highway 12 (SH12). A short period of stop/go will be required today for clean-up.

NZTA is monitoring the river at SH1 Whakapara. If rain gets heavier, this area may flood.

Do not drive through flood water. Road conditions can change rapidly — please be prepared for roads to be closed at short notice.
