8:15pm – SH6 OPEN under stop/go traffic management

State Highway 6 between Renwick and Havelock is now open under stop/go traffic management.

Road users can expect ongoing delays and stops on request at the crash site until the highway is fully reopened.

Drivers are asked to follow all instructions from emergency services and contractors, and should allow extra time for their journeys.


5:48pm – Serious crash, Marlborough - State Highway 6 closed between Renwick and Havelock

Drivers travelling between Nelson and Blenheim must be prepared for delays and detours this evening as emergency services and contractors attend a crash on State Highway 6 near Okaramio.

The incident, involving a single vehicle and a power pole, was reported shortly before 4 pm.

State Highway 6 is currently closed between Queen Charlotte Drive and Long Valley Road.

Contractors and emergency services are attending, and the highway is expected to remain closed  for some time while this incident is being resolved,

While a detour route is available via Queen Charlotte Drive, it is suitable for light vehicles only and heavy vehicles cannot use this route,

Drivers travelling between Blenheim and Nelson should consider detouring via State Highway 63 Wairau Valley instead. This is a longer route and requires extra travel time.
