State Highway 1 at the Rakaia River Bridge has reopened following a police incident this afternoon.

People are asked to travel with care as congestion in the area eases.

State Highway 1 is closed in both directions at the Rakaia River Bridge following a police incident this afternoon.

This is resulting in significant queuing on SH1 both sides of the river. Road users are asked to delay their travel or use an alternative route.
