11.35am - SH38/SH5 Intersection closed at Waimangu

Due to a crash at the intersection of State Highway 38 and State Highway 5 in Waimangu, the road is closed in both directions. 

People are urged to avoid the area and allow extra time for a detour 

For travel between Murupara and Rotorua, detour via Waimangu Road and Okaro Road in both directions. 

For travel on SH5 between Waiotapu and Rotorua, detour via Waikite Valley Road and Tumunui Road in both directions. 

Please note there are vehicle restrictions on these detour routes, so heavy vehicles should consider delaying their travel or detour using SH30 and SH1.
