State Highway 59 has reopened following a closure for a crash investigation earlier this evening.

The highway reopened at approximately 8:35 pm after being closed for around 90 minutes while the Police Serious Crash Unit completed its investigations.

State Highway 59 is closed between Pukerua Bay and Paekākāriki following a serious crash earlier this evening.

The incident, which occurred near the Onepu Road intersection, was reported just before 6 pm.

The highway is closed while the Police Serious Crash Unit investigates. This may take several hours and there is no estimated time for when the road will reopen.
