4.10pm – SH6 clear again after crash
A stretch of State Highway 6/Wanaka-Luggate Highway, near Wānaka, is fully open again to traffic after a crash earlier today.
People are asked to travel with care on this route.
3.30pm – SH6 closed to clear crash site
State Highway 6/Wanaka-Luggate Highway, near Wānaka, is being closed temporarily to allow crashed vehicles to be cleared.
The closure is near the intersection with Ballantyne Road, and about 2km west of Wānaka Airport.
A detour is in place: Northbound traffic should use SH6, then turn left onto Ballantyne Road, right onto Morris Road, and left back onto SH6. The reverse applies for southbound traffic.
The closure is expected to be lifted after the vehicles involved in the crash are towed and the site is clear.
2.25pm – Crash blocking SH6 near Wānaka
A crash on State Highway 6, just outside Wānaka in Central Otago, has blocked the road and people are being warned of potential delays.
The crash occurred this afternoon on SH6/Wanaka-Luggate Highway, near the intersection with Ballantyne Road, and about 2km west of Wānaka Airport. Emergency services are attending.
Road users are encouraged to delay their travel or avoid the area if possible while the crash is still being dealt with.
