1.35pm – SH73 near West Melton reopened
State Highway 73, between Miners Road and Jowers Road intersections, on the western outskirts of Christchurch, has reopened after a vehicle crash this morning.
Road users are asked to drive with care through the area.
1.15pm – Detours in place as closure continues
The closure of State Highway 73, between Miners Road and Jowers Road intersections, near West Melton, is expected to continue for at least another hour as emergency services deal with a serious vehicle crash.
Detours are in place. For westbound traffic, road users should use SH73, then turn right onto Miners Road, left onto Old West Coast Road, left onto Chattertons Road, right onto Jowers Road and right back onto SH73. The reverse applies for eastbound traffic.
12.05pm – State Highway 73 near Christchurch closed by crash
A vehicle crash has resulted in the closure of State Highway 73, between Miners Road and Jowers Road intersections, on the western outskirts of Christchurch.
Emergency services are at the crash site. Road users are advised to avoid the area, near West Melton, or delay their journeys if possible.
An update will be provided as the situation changes.
