People should take extra care driving on this route.

4.17pm - Vehicle crash closes SH98 in Southland

A vehicle crash has resulted in the closure of State Highway 98 at Rakahouka in Southland.

The road is closed between the intersections of Rakahouka-Hedgehope Road and Grove Bush-Woodlands Road. Emergency services are at the crash site.

A detour is available: Northbound traffic should turn left on to Rakahouka-Hedgehope Road, then turn right on to Grove Bush-Woodlands Road, then left back onto SH98. The reverse applies for southbound traffic. This detour is not suitable for High Productivity Motor Vehicles (HPMV).
