Update: State Highway 2 closed near Mikimiki following serious crash (SH2 now open)

State Highway 2 has reopened to traffic at Mikimiki following this morning’s crash.

The highway was closed for around four hours while the incident was being investigated and the crash scene cleared.

Drivers are asked to take care while driving through the area.


8:25am

State Highway 2 is closed north of Masterton following a serious crash earlier this morning.

The crash was reported around 6:30 am near the Mikimiki Road intersection.

Emergency services are at the scene, and the Police Serious Crash Unit is investigating the incident

State Highway 2 is closed between Kiriwhakapapa Rd and Paierau Rd. Drivers are asked to delay their journeys and avoid the area until the incident is resolved.

The highway is expected to remain closed for several hours while Police investigations are ongoing. There is no estimated time for when it will reopen.
