UPDATE: State Highway 2 closed to northbound traffic at Silverstream – serious crash (SH2 OPEN)

UPDATE 1:20pm:

State Highway 2 has reopened following this morning’s serious crash. The highway was closed to northbound traffic for just over two hours.

Drivers can expect ongoing delays in the area until queued traffic clears


11.10am:

Drivers heading north on State Highway 2 to Upper Hutt are warned to expect traffic delays following a serious crash on the route this morning.

The incident was reported around 10.45 am – the highway is now closed to northbound traffic at the Silverstream Road Bridge. It remains open to southbound traffic.

Emergency services are at the scene. Drivers must follow their directions.

Local road detours are available via Upper Hutt but will require extra travel time. Ongoing delays and traffic congestion can be expected until this incident is resolved. Drivers should plan accordingly and allow extra time for their journeys.
