Urgent repairs ahead after median barrier strikes on HB state highways

A stretch of State Highway 2 Hawke’s Bay Expressway’s southbound lane will be closed overnight tonight for urgent repairs to flexible median barrier.
The southbound lane, between Prebensen Drive and Taradale Road, will close from 8pm til 5am tomorrow (Tuesday morning).
Southbound road users will be detoured onto SH50 Prebensen Drive, Hyderabad Road, and onto SH51 Taradale Road, before rejoining the expressway.
The northbound lane will remain open as normal during this time.
Meanwhile planning is underway to repair flexible median barrier this week on a stretch of SH51 between the Awatoto Road roundabout and Ellison Street.
The northbound lane will be closed between 10am and 2pm. NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi will confirm the day as soon as possible.
During the closure, northbound road users will be detoured onto Awatoto Road, Te Awa Avenue, and SH51 Ellison Street, before rejoining SH51.
The southbound lane will remain open as normal during this time.
