The Waterview tunnel will be closed for four nights for fire safety maintenance in November – road users should expect detours.

Works include replacement of the fire detection and suppression system, an important part of the Waterview Tunnel’s ongoing fire safety maintenance programme.

Southbound closures will be in place from 8pm until 5am on Monday 9 November and between 9pm and 5am on Tuesday 10 November.

To carry out works safely and efficiently, the following ramps/links will be closed with detours in place:

• SH16 westbound to SH20 southbound link
• SH16 eastbound to SH20 southbound link
• SH20 Maioro Street off-ramp

Follow the signposted detour via Great North Road, Blockhouse Bay Road, Tiverton Road, Maioro Street where people can access SH20 southbound.

Northbound closures will take place on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 November between 9pm and 5am.

To carry out works safely and efficiently, the following ramps/links will be closed with detours in place.

• SH20 Maioro Street northbound on-ramp
• SH20 northbound to SH16 westbound link
• SH20 northbound to SH16 eastbound link

Follow the signposted detour via Maioro Street, Tiverton Road, Blockhouse Bay Road and Great North Road where people can access SH16.
