Wind warning tomorrow morning - Auckland Harbour Bridge

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 11 Sep 2025 4:46pm | Auckland

Strong northwest winds may impact the Auckland Harbour Bridge tomorrow morning between 6am and 8am, Friday 12 September.

MetService advises that some gusts may get to 75-85 km/h.

When wind gusts reach 75km/h speeds limits may be reduced and some lanes on the bridge may close.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and pay attention to electronic message boards on the motorway, which will advise if any lane closures and reduced speed limits are required.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) works with MetService to monitor conditions to ensure we are making decisions based on up-to-date and accurate information on predicted and current wind speeds. We use this information to determine risk and implement speed reductions, lane closures or bridge closures.
