Winter maintenance on State Highway 2 north of Tauranga
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 3 Jul 2025 2:39pm | Bay of Plenty
As winter temperatures settle in, NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is shifting focus to routine maintenance and responding to weather-related issues such as slips and flooding, says Sandra King, System Manager for the Bay of Plenty.
“Asphalt resurfacing will be a key focus over the coming month on SH2 north of Tauranga, with crews working at multiple locations between Te Puna and Athenree.
“Work is scheduled to begin on Sunday 6 July and will continue Sunday to Thursday for 2 weeks. To minimise disruption to motorists, all resurfacing will take place at night between 7pm and 5am,” says Ms King.
All worksites will operate under stop/go traffic management with a temporary speed limit of 30km/h.
