Following a fatal crash this morning, State Highway 1/Edendale-Woodlands Highway has reopened between State Highway 98/Lorne-Dacre Road and Grove Bush-Woodlands Road.

Road users are asked to take care travelling this route. 

8.30am – Crash closes SH1 in Southland:

A crash has closed a stretch of State Highway 1 near Invercargill.

SH1/Edendale-Woodlands Highway is closed between State Highway 98/Lorne-Dacre Road and Grove Bush-Woodlands Road.

A detour is available: northbound traffic can turn left onto Grove Bush-Woodlands Road, right onto SH98/Lorne-Dacre Road and then left back onto SH1/Edendale-Woodlands Highway. The reverse applies for southbound traffic.
