NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi | 2 May 2025 3:58pm | Wellington, Tasman, Nelson and Marlborough
Important information for drivers.
Lower North Island:
- Road reconstruction work is underway on State Highway 2 in Greytown and continues until 9 May - similar work is about to get underway in Carterton from 11 May. Drainage and safety works are also ongoing near Totara Park in Upper Hutt. It means people travelling between the Hutt Valley and Masterton should allow for extra travel time while these projects are underway.
Top of the South Island:
- Road repairs are planned late next month for State Highway 6 Whakatu Drive
- In Marlborough, drivers will need to plan ahead for daytime delays at the Waima (Ure) River bridge south of Ward, from Monday, 5 May to Friday 16 May, during construction of a clip-on cycle bridge as part of the local Whale Trail project.
- Road closures are planned for safety barrier works on State Highway 60 Ruby Bay Bypass from this Sunday.
The details below outline the main planned state highway roadworks occurring in the greater Wellington region and the top of the South Island over the coming week (from Saturday, 3 May).
