Lower North Island/Upper South Island - Planned state highway roadworks

Lower North Island
The Churton Park onramp to State Highway 1 has three weeks of night closures planned next month, and road rebuild and safety barrier works at State Highway 2 Totara Park in Upper Hutt will continue next week.

For people travelling to and from Petone. The Petone on-ramp onto State Highway 2 will be closed for maintenance works on Sunday night between 9:30 pm and 4:30 am. Work crews will be replacing old and broken hit sticks, sweeping the cycle lane, and clearing vegetation. Drivers will need to use the Dowse Interchange to access State Highway 2 during the closure and should allow extra time for their journey.
Asset surveys will be underway on State Highway 1 Transmission Gully on Tuesday and Wednesday nights next week between 10 pm and 5 am. This will see traffic management in place, and phased 20–30-minute stops over both nights at motorway on-ramps and off-ramps between Pāekākāriki and Linden:
Top of the South Island
Following bad weather this week, drivers in the top of the South Island need to be aware flooding may have caused damage to the highway network. Please be prepared for temporary traffic management at various sites across the region and drive safely through flood-affected areas and areas where roadworks/repairs are underway. Three nights of repairs and night closures begin on State Highway 6 Whakatu Drive this Sunday, slip repairs resume on State Highway 6 at Dellows Bluff, and resilience works continue at the Howard Narrows on State Highway 63 and the Whangamoa Hill on State Highway 6.
