State Highway 73/West Coast Road between Chattertons Road and Old West Coast Road has reopened following a crash this morning.

People are asked to take care travelling on this route.

8.20am – SH73 closed by crash

A crash has closed part of State Highway 73/West Coast Road on the western outskirts of Christchurch this morning.

SH73/ West Coast Road is closed between Chattertons Road and Old West Coast Road. Emergency services are working at the crash site. 

A detour is available for those travelling in the area: eastbound traffic should turn left onto Chattertons Road, right onto Old West Coast Road and turn left to get back onto State Highway 73/West Coast Road. The reverse applies for westbound traffic.

People should allow extra time for travel because of the closure. An update will be provided when the status of the road changes.
