19 February – SH36 chipsealing this weekend
Daytime chipsealing work is coming up this weekend for State Highway 36 between the SH36/Kennedy Road roundabout and the SH36/Pyes Pa roundabout. (This work was originally scheduled for Valentines weekend but postponed due to weather). Expect delays.
13 February – SH36 work postponed
Unfortunately, the planned chipsealing works on SH36 scheduled for this weekend have been postponed.
We were ready to seal the deal this Valentine’s weekend, but the weather doesn’t want to commit.
The work will now take place next weekend, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February, between 7am and 7pm, on the 2km section between the SH36/Kennedy Road and SH36/Pyes Pa roundabouts.
Daytime works, traffic management and delays should be expected. NZTA thanks road users and local residents in advance for their patience.
5 February – Showing SH36 some love on Valentines weekend
A 2km section of State Highway 36 (SH36), between the SH36/Kennedy Road roundabout and the SH36/Pyes Pa roundabout, will be chipsealed next weekend, on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 February, between 7am and 7pm.
The work will be underway during daytime hours due to the proximity of nearby homes. The level of noise would be too disruptive for local residents for overnight works.
Delays are expected within the work area during the day, so motorists are encouraged to use an alternative route if possible, of which there are many.
Stop/go traffic management, lane diversions, and a temporary speed limit will be in place while the worksite is active. The temporary speed limit will remain in place overnight to keep everyone safe.
Once the work is completed, measures will remain in place to ensure the chipseal beds in properly. The site will then be swept and the linemarking will be reinstated. Delays could be encountered on Monday 16 February.
NZTA thanks road users and locals for their patience while we carry out this important work.
